June News: A New Book, A Finalist Honour, and Summer Markets

Hello everyone,

June has arrived with sunshine, new beginnings, and a few exciting milestones I'd love to share with you.

🧺✨ Dani's Adventure in Laundry Land Has Arrived! ✨🧺

I'm delighted to announce the release of my newest children's book, Dani's Adventure in Laundry Land.

This story has been quietly waiting to be written for several years. It began as a simple idea and eventually grew into a playful adventure filled with tunnels, twists, and surprises.

When Dani goes searching for her favourite sweater, she discovers an entire world hidden inside the laundry pile. As she travels over, under, through, and around Laundry Land, young readers learn directional language while exploring alongside her.

I'm also excited to share that shortly after its release, Dani's Adventure in Laundry Land reached #2 on Amazon's Best Sellers list in the Early Learning Books On Language category. 🎉

For a brand-new book, that was an exciting surprise and a reminder that stories can sometimes find their readers in ways we never expect.

A heartfelt thank you goes to illustrator Danielle Adams, whose beautiful artwork brought Dani's adventure to life.

Seeing a story move from idea to finished book is always a special experience, and I'm grateful to share this one with you.

🌟 Finalist for the Lois Hole Memorial Literacy Award

I was honoured to learn that I was a finalist for the Lois Hole Memorial Literacy Award through the Centre for Family Literacy. I didn't receive the award this year, however it is an honour to be considered! Being recognized alongside others who support literacy and learning is deeply meaningful.

I will be attending the awards event on June 9 and look forward to celebrating the important work being done to foster literacy in our communities.

📚 Summer Market Season Begins

I'm excited to announce my first market of the season!

This year I'll be attending a little differently.

While I'll still be there with my books, I'll be exhibiting under my publishing company, Raspberry Press. New banner, more books, same author!

I'll also be joined by fellow Raspberry Press author C.A. Bathgate, author of the Dragonshadowed fantasy series. We'll both be available throughout the day to sign books, chat with readers, and celebrate storytelling.

We'll also have a gift basket giveaway that visitors can enter to win.

📍 St. Albert Farmers' Market
📍 Stall #57 – St. Anne Street
📅 June 13

If you're in the area, we'd love to see you.

💛 A Final Reflection

As I look back on the first half of the year, I'm reminded that stories often take their own path and their own timing. Some arrive quickly. Others wait patiently for years before they are ready to be written.

Whether you're writing, creating, learning, or simply dreaming about what's next, I hope you'll continue taking small steps toward the things that matter most to you.

You never know which idea may become your next adventure.

Thank you, as always, for being part of my journey.

April Newsletter-Cheryl Fountain

Hello everyone, April has been … well ... a little bit of everything. Warm, sunny days where the snow melts and everything feels possible, followed by cold, blustery moments that remind us winter hasn’t quite let go yet. And I’ve found myself reflecting how in many ways that this is exactly what my writing life has looked like lately. There are days where the words flow with ease where ideas feel clear, creativity feels light, and everything seems to move forward naturally. And then there are...

Dani's Adventure In Laundry Land- Illustration Sneak Peak- Illustrated by Danielle Adams Hello everyone, March has brought with it a quiet kind of reflection for me, the kind that gently asks you to pause and really see where you are, and perhaps even more importantly… how you see yourself. Recently, I was nominated for the Poet Laureate position in St. Albert. Even writing those words feels a little surreal. It’s such an honour — and also a moment that made me stop and reflect. Sometimes, it...
